The arch, designed by the Catalan architect Josep Vilaseca, is adorned with a large number of statues and reliefs. This beautiful arch was built for the 1888 Universal Exposition, which took place at the Parc de la Ciutadella. Is located right next to the Old Town. It is a fantastic spot for pictures. There is also a lake where you can rent a boat. The Cascada is a beautiful fountain and waterfall framed by a massive arch in the Baroque style, adorned with playful cherubs and winged horses. Josep Fontsère along with young Antoni Gaudi, then a student, designed the Cascada for the 1888 Exhibition. The design is based on the Trevi Fountain in Rome. It has a bike path and is always full of people jogging , skate rollers, bikers. There are many cheap restaurants along the boardwalk, nothing fancy. There are several cheap motels right on the beach . 3 oceanfront parks featuring playgrounds, paddleball courts, ping pong tables, interactive water play fountain, picnic pavilions and restrooms They also have a free outdoor concerts at the Hollywood Beach Theatre. The italian name is Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti. It is a set of 138 steps climbing a steep slope between the Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, dominated by the Trinità dei Monti church at the top. Altough they are called The Spanish Steps, it was actually the French who built them as a way to reach the French Church above. The steps and piazza are named 'Spanish' because the Spanish Embassy used to reside there. He dedicated the last 20 years to decorate these 200 steps with tiles the colors of the brazilian flag. He now includes tiles on the steps sent to him from all over the world. The Escadaria Selaron or Selaron Staircase is a great spot for pictures and if you hang around long enough you will meet Selaron, he lives right off the steps in a small apartment where he sells other paintings. I went there last year for the Thai Festival and found it to be a great place to visit and take pictures. The gardens are full of flowers and the architecture of the Temple is amazing creating great spots for pictures. Even the monks are very receptive of their picture being taken . Just remember to be considerate. Inside the temple there multiple gold statues that make a great background for pictures. This is an imposing statue that overlooks the entire city and gives the best views of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The Christ the Redeemer (Portuguese: Cristo Redentor) statue is considered the second largest Art Deco statue in the world. The park has has trails to do jogging and also walk dogs (on a leash), it is always full of people. It also provides a great view of downtown Miami in the distance. This is a 'secret' spot that our guide took us to during our tour of Rome. We parked right outside the Priorato de Malta ( Knights of Malta) at the Piazza dei Cavalieri dei Malta. The Knights of Malta is a big walled compound and there was really nothing interesting to see there until the guide told us to peek through the keyhole of the dark green door number 3. I thought she was crazy but when I looked I saw this amazing view of the St Peters dome that looked really close even though is really far across the river. This is a well known lookout point to get a great view of the entire city including the Tower from the Palazzo Vecchio and the Duomo. The piazza is mostly a big parking lot , with a lot of cars and tourist buses and also the ubiquitous street vendors selling cheesy souvenirs. This park is a favorite for all kinds of photo shoots because of the combination of grass, dunes, beach, bay and also high rise buildings. There is also a small playground. They created this high dune/hill that is just phenomenal for photos or to just sit on top and watch the cruise ships go by. This is a great area for pictures because of all the boats that are on the canals that cross the city. Fort Lauderdale is sometimes known as the 'Venice of America' because of its expansive and intricate canal system. Muir woods is 240 acres of old growth Coast Redwood forests.The Bohemian and Cathedral groves contain the biggest trees in Muir Woods. One as tall as 252 feet and one 14 feet wide. Haystack Rock tide pools are home to many intertidal species of marine wildlife in their natural habitat. A few minutes after I took this picture the entire beach was covered with fog and couldn't see the rocks.
